What are the elements for a good advertisement? How do you define a good advertisement? For me, a good advertisement does not necessary need to invest lots of money, does not need to star by famous actor. Still remember many years ago a candy advertisement with its popular slogan “Old Newspaper~”? Now, there is another one which is very impressing too. Hereby, I proudly present, ads from Astro on Demand – The Pirated DVD Seller!
The “Magnificent Shiny Disc Hero” makes a grand entry in the advertisement, with the wind stylishly blowing his gold-dyed hair back as he comically walked around and promoting his DVDs. However, the customers yelled at him “tai chor lor”, telling him that Astro’s new package – Astro on Demand – was now showing the latest TVB series the same time they are shown in Hong Kong, thus making his DVDs of the same dramas obsolete.
The adorable character was played by Brandon Yuen Soon Seng. In real life, by completing his diploma in auto mechanics, he is currently a 22-year-old interior design consultant (kheng leh~) This was the first time he took part in an advertisement, before this, he worked as a hair stylish too. Just wish that he will be appearing in more advertisements in the future. (Legend said that some people saw him at Setapak, if you have the chance to meet Brandon, please tell him that he is posted in this blog, haha~)
